I have always wanted a career working with people, helping them lead healthier lives. I decided to become a dietitian after taking a nutrition class in college. It was a natural fit – my love of good, healthy food and being active. I knew I could help others learn to make healthy choices, too.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Public Health Nutrition from UNC-Chapel Hill which gave me the technical knowledge of the body and food relationship I needed. When completing my Master’s Degree, I focused on adult education and counseling, to better enable me to teach adults and reach people where they are comfortable.
These degrees, along with additional Certifications in Personal Training, Sports Nutrition, Wellness Coaching, and Certificates of Training in Adult and Childhood & Adolescent Weight Management, prepared me to reach each person where they are in their health and wellness journey. I continue to improve my skills, through continuing education and certifications, to help those I work with reach their goals and become their personal best.
Over the years, I have been fortunate to helped hundreds of people find healthy lifestyle choices that will work for them for the rest of their lives. I work closely with my clients to find holistic, reasonable approaches and moderate, realistic changes that will assist them in achieving their goals. It is not a one-size-fits-all approach and there are no cookie cutter plans. I meet each individual where they are today on their pathway to a healthier lifestyle. From this starting point, we work together to develop a plan that is individualized and will work for them. The plan might need revisions or a new direction but it will always be individualized and customized.
