Strawberry Banana Frozen Yogurt

Strawberry Frozen Yogurt 2

I can’t help but get a little excited when strawberry season rolls around again. It not only means that I get to enjoy that sweet red fruit again, but also the end of wearing my heavy winter coat and layers! (Winters in Chicago start to feel awfully long come late April.) To celebrate the warmer weather, why not try this tasty strawberry banana frozen yogurt recipe? Honesty, it couldn’t be any more simple. Simply puree all of your ingredients together in a food processor until smooth and serve. In just minutes you have a sweet, tart frozen dessert that is not only tasty, but healthy.

Unlike some other recipes for frozen yogurt, this one does not require a ice cream maker either. You just have to make sure to use frozen fruit when preparing the yogurt. I adapted this recipe from Just a Taste.  If you prefer it to be sweeter, feel free to add a couple of tablespoons of honey or maple syrup if needed. Personally, I found that the banana adds just enough natural sweetness.

Cool off on even the hottest day with this tasty strawberry banana frozen yogurt that comes together in minutes and is healthy too!
Recipe type: Dessert
Serves: 4
Ingredients
  • 1 lb. frozen strawberries
  • 1 frozen banana
  • ½ cup plain, full fat yogurt
  • 2 teaspoons lemon zest
Optional Toppings:
  • Shredded unsweetened coconut
  • Freeze dried berries
  • Berry sauce
  • Chopped dark chocolate
Instructions
  1. Place all the ingredients in a food processor and puree until smooth. Serve immediately for a soft frozen yogurt or freeze in an airtight container for 30-45 minutes to be able to create round scoops. If you leave it in the freezer too long, it will become too hard to scoop. In that case, just let it sit out until it softens.
