About Sarah
I am a registered dietitian and licensed nutritionist with more than 5 years of experience in nutrition counseling in areas such as, weight loss, healthy eating, diabetes, heart disease, and women’s nutrition. My interest in nutrition began in childhood. My mother was a stickler for eating lots of fresh fruit and vegetables daily and we never had “junk” food. While growing up, I came to understand about healthy eating and the importance of good nutrition. This was especially important to me since I was involved in sports such as basketball, volleyball, and track.
My decision to pursue a career in nutrition began while in college. I worked at a long-term care facility as a cook and at a hospital as a dietetic technician. While at those facilities, I teamed up with a few of dietitians who took me under their wing and taught me how to improve people’s lives through nutrition. I fell in love with the concept and the rest is history! Currently, I work with a variety of clients in various settings. I have experience with one-on-one counseling, in-patient nutritional support, teaching group classes, public speaking and in-home assessments.
My goal as a dietitian is to empower my clients to design achievable goals and improve his/her health and well being through nutrition and a balanced life. I believe that the Balance Program through Real Living Nutrition is an excellent tool and a good fit for me. I hope you find it to be the same. Good luck in your ventures and always have fun!
Fun Facts About Me
- I received my education from Central Michigan University.
- I have a toddler who keeps me busy and fills my life with excitement! Everyday is a new adventure as he learns a new word or skill.
- In October 2004, I successfully completed the Marine Corp Marathon in Washington, D.C.
- I recently planted my first vegetable garden.
- I live near the home of Kellogg’s in Battle Creek, Michigan.
- My favorite things to eat are chocolate, fruit, fresh green beans and asparagus, and of course pizza.
- I love being outdoors, walking, running, and camping.
- I grew up in Michigan near Lake Michigan in a town where the Goose Festival is our claim to fame!
- I like watching movies, especially romantic comedies but slap-stick comedies are a close second.
- I enjoy reading when I can find the time. I recently finished What to Eat by Marion Nestle and I am currently reading the China Study.
- I am a night owl so, I grew up watching Saturday Night Live.
- My favorite music is rock-n-roll.
