About Jamie

I truly believe that nutrition can be a positive experience for all of us!  Sometimes it feels as though this may never happen, however.  I decided to pursue my dietetics education for that single reason: to educate others and give them the empowerment and confidence to have a positive relationship with food.

After my own weight-related struggles as a teenager, learning about healthy eating and nutrition became a hobby.  I went on to earn my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Bates College, and began working in the “real world.”  Before long I realized that I needed more, and was meant to do more with my people-focused career. It was then that I decided to become a nutritionist.

I earned my Master of Science degree in Foods and Nutrition from Marywood University in Scranton, PA and became a Registered Dietitian, licensed with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.  Recently, my love for exercise and fitness motivated me to become a personal trainer.  I am a member of the Connecticut Dietetics Association, the American Counsel on Exercise, and the American College of Sports Medicine.

I do not believe in quick fixes or rigid diet prescriptions.  I do believe in hard work, education, and helping people create an individualized eating and exercise plan exclusive to them!  I currently have a home-based nutrition counseling practice and serve as the consultant nutritionist for the ESPN Health and Fitness Center in Bristol, CT.  I also work part-time as a personal trainer at a local gym.  In my free time, I love to cook (surprise!), run, hike, and spend time with my husband and family.

Fun Facts About Me

  • I spent 5 months in Queensland, Australia in college.  I learned to snorkel on the Great Barrier Reef and touched kangaroos and koala bears!
  • I was born and raised in Maine so I feel at home on boats and the beach.
  • I ran a half-marathon in Indiana and part of it was on the Indy 500 speedway - very hot!
  • Favorite Foods: seafood, Mediterranean, ice cream (I love the American Idol flavors!) and anything chocolate!
  • My favorite seasons are spring and fall - not too hot or cold, and filled with exciting colors!
  • I love massages - foot, head, face, and my sore legs after a road race.
  • My husband has an exercise science degree and career so we are a perfect match!
