Water Promotes Weight Loss

A small study of 14 men and women showed drinking water may impact our metabolism. Drinking 500 ml (2 cups) of cold water after a meal increased metabolic rate by 30%. This increase in metabolism occurred within the first 10 minutes and reached its maximum at 30-40 minutes. They found that for men fat mainly fueled the increase in metabolic rate and for women carbohydrates were mainly used as the energy source. Either way will lead to more calories burned at that specific meal and can help with your weight loss program. Although this was a very small study and further studies are needed it doesn’t hurt to have a cold glass of water after every meal!
