About Mandy

In addition to being a registered dietitian, my background includes education and experience in the fields of fitness management and health promotion. My enthusiasm and continued education stems from a desire to help those who are seeking to improve their own health. My goal is to not only help them become aware of how much better they can feel by making simple, healthy choices each day, but also to empower them with knowledge and tools to make healthy decision-making a way of life.

In 1998, I earned a Bachelors degree from Mississippi State University with a major in fitness management. While completing my coursework, I took a nutrition class. This ignited an interest in nutrition and the role it would play as I pursued a career in the health field. Upon graduation, I worked as a fitness counselor for a hospital-based wellness program. Here, I helped a variety of individuals, including those interested in losing weight and improving overall fitness, collegiate athletes wanting to improve fitness prior to pre-season training, as well as patients in cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs. I gained an eye-opening awareness that they all shared a common goal to achieve improved health.

Throughout my time working in the fitness field, my interest in nutrition grew as I observed the relationship it had to overall health and wellness. In 2003, I earned my second Bachelors degree in food and nutrition from Mississippi State University (MSU), and went on to complete a dietetic internship through the University of Delaware and Masters Degree in health promotion from MSU.

A diverse background has allowed me to pursue my passions for both fitness and nutrition while simultaneously working as a clinical dietician and personal trainer at a local hospital. I have worked with both inpatients and outpatients in areas that range from weight control, diabetes management, and overall medical nutrition therapy. I have also worked as a consulting RD for numerous long-term care facilities and a rural hospital. I am also able to stay up-to-date on the latest in nutrition while teaching a nutrition and health class at the Mississippi University for Women.

I live in Starkville, MS with my husband and 18 month-old daughter, Piper. We love leading a healthy, active lifestyle that allows us to have fun, feel great and enjoy the beauty that nature provides.  Everyone warned us that our active lifestyle would quickly end once children came along. While plans and sacrifices have been made, learning to incorporate healthy hobbies and habits into family life has further motivated me to help others lead a balanced life and serve as healthy role models for those they love.
