Kathy Zepeda RD, CDN

 

About Kathy

I am a registered dietitian and certified dietitian-nutritionist in New York State. I have more than 7 years experience working with patients in long term care and short term rehabilitation.  My experience also includes counseling patients in the areas of diabetes and weight management.

I have always had a passion for healthy eating and exercise, and I also have a strong passion for science and math.  When I first started school, I planned to major in accounting, but things soon changed.  During my freshman year, I was given a writing assignment on my true life goals.  It was then I realized that getting my Bachelors of Science in Food and Nutrition was the right choice for me.  I completed my undergraduate and dietetic internship at The College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown, NJ.

Although I have a passion for food and nutrition, I am not a good cook.  I was blessed to fall in love with, and marry, an excellent cook.  Together we make magic in the kitchen. I met my husband at my first job after I completed school.  We were married in May 2006, and our daughter was born in May 2007.  Becoming a mother has made me appreciate how important it is to keep a healthy lifestyle.  

I believe that the balance program provides all the tools you will need to achieve this lifestyle.  I am proud to be a Certified Provider of Real Living Nutrition Services®, and I look forward to the opportunity to assist my clients to meet their goals.

 

Fun Facts About Me

  • I love to eat a variety of ethnic foods.  My favorites include Egyptian, Spanish and Indian cuisine.

  • I love to travel to different countries and experience their food and culture.  I have visited Egypt, El Salvador, Mexico, Aruba and Canada.
 
  • My family has vacationed on Sebec Lake in Maine my entire life, and I hope to continue doing this with my children as well.
 
  • My husband and I love to watch Anthony Bourdain No Reservations and Bizarre Foods.  We also enjoy watching Chef Gordon Ramsey on Hell’s Kitchen.
 
  • My favorite exercises include kickboxing, step aerobics, Pilates and walking.  I also spent time training with a personal trainer. I found it to be the best workout of my life with the greatest results, and because of this, I am currently studying to receive my certification as a personal trainer.
